1. Secured Paid Family Leave for City of Warner Robins (first city in Georgia) and Macon-Bibb County (first county in Georgia);

 

2. Protected Affordable Care Act as part of the nationwide advocacy effort. Held three education salons regarding access to affordable healthcare in Georgia;

 

3. As a part of the Macon Unity coalition, successfully advocated for the addition of discrimination protections (gender identity and sexual orientation) for Macon-Bibb County Workers;

 

4. Published weekly action list (Lynn’s List) of advocacy items that enabled hundreds of calls and emails to elected officials. Hosted monthly Signing Events where thousands of postcards have been written for this same purpose;

 

5. Presented legislation (HB731) to the 2018 Georgia State Legislature to eliminate state sales tax from menstrual products in Georgia; Returned in 2019 with HB 8 having formed a statewide coalition, Georgia STOMP (Stop Tax on Menstrual Products) to assist in the work; Successfully worked to have period products added to the list of basis needs GEMA funds can be used to purchase following a natural disaster; Successfully worked with Georgia Department of Corrections to have menstrual products provided on an "as needed" basis in cabinets in women's dorms in state prisons; Advocated for and worked with State Department of Education when $1M was added to state budget to provide feminine hygiene products in schools an $500K to Department of Public Health for same purpose.

 

6. Formed Middle Georgia Immigration Coalition, composed of houses of worship and social justice groups, to educate, advocate and aid immigrant families under stress because of our nation’s immigration policy; Visited detainees at Stewart Detention Center to provide friendship and to learn more about their difficulties and needs; In conjunction with numerous statewide groups advocated for rights of detained individuals and their humane treatment;

 

7. Introduced #MiddleGAVotes, a civic engagement effort reaching over 57,000 people in Middle Georgia, composed of large employers and universities utilizing their existing communication networks to disseminate voter registration and voter access information;

8. In coordination with Macon-Bibb Board of Elections, hosted annual National Voter Registration events during each year of existence, encouraging civic engagement on the part of city leaders and registering voters;

9. Led a successful “Macon Climate Sense” campaign leading Macon to join the Climate Mayor’s Network;

 

10. Visited state and federal legislators’ offices to educate leadership on our core principles. During each year of existence, hosted an Annual Elected Officials “Meet and Greet” for middle Georgia’s elected leadership.
